History

2020

In 2020 we, like all local, national and international venues, we were subject to closure during the covid-19 pandemic. Unlike many of the unfortunate venues who had no option but to close permanently, we were in the fortunate position to have had accumulated the funds and still had our core of dedicated volunteers to allow us to be able to reopen when the restrictions were lifted and restart our productions once again.

Although it took some time, we are now back to the position of almost selling out all 10 production dates for each play and we have gladly welcomed old patrons and new ones to our theatre once again.

2007

In 2007 Formby Little Theatre reprised the same play as we celebrated our 60th Anniversary. The Group acquired the present site, which resides between Lonsdale Rd & Rosemary Lane and used the building on this site as the Club Room and Set building area. Sets were then transported, by hand, round the corner to the Church Hall.

2003

In 2003 the funds we had accumulated were used to extend the theatre, create a new Bar area, upgrade the Seating.

(See details of the renovation here)

This included the correct access and facilities for the disabled.

1984

In 1984 a Stage was built on the site and plays have been performed there ever since. We pride ourselves on being the only permanent community theatre in Formby. We have a loyal following of patrons from Formby and the surrounding area.

1947

In 1947 a group of individuals calling themselves "The Fellowship Players" put on a production of Terence Rattigan's " Flarepath" in Holy Trinity Church Hall,  This was the beginning of Formby Little Theatre.
