Take two men, one old, one young, living separate lonely lives in the same city. Throw them together in a traffic accident. Charge the young man with reckless driving and sentence him to community service: visiting the elderly, recently widowed Mr Green once a week. Then see how their initial antagonism morphs into mutual interest in each other’s lives and then into friendship; a friendship that creates a hope-filled future for both. Reveal along the way some family skeletons, add a good dose of New York Jewish humour and there you have “Visiting Mr. Green”, a play to make you laugh, cry and think about your own family.
